Hello from Madison, Wisconsin

Postby jluscher » Mon Feb 01, 2016 2:42 am

Hello,

I am a new M3D user, purchased through the Kickstarter but waited, and waited, and waited, ... for their Linux software ... finally told them to just ship me whatever it is they had. Got a box with the printer in it. :-(

I have now purchased a RasPi, installed Octoprint, etc. and have it all talking to my PC over wifi. All that feels GREAT, and kind of magic, but the thing can't print the simplest thing sucessfully (a 1cm x 1cm x 1mm solid - comes out a mess).

There seems to be some strange problem where the hot end DESCENDS (into the print bed) when trying to "print the 0.4 mm test border". I've done the calibration steps multiple times (consistently wrong ?? ;-) and no love there yet.

GREAT WORK and KUDOs to the members who have worked out all of the details and developed the software for OctoPrint, the M3D plugins, etc.

An AWESOME job !!

What calibration steps have you done? The hot end should only be descending into the print bed if the printer's not calibrated correctly.

Only had the thing like 2 weeks myself.. but hey, I don't know about all the software and RasB Pi stuff.. but I found with then stock software I always have to lift the table by .4-ish to get it to print somewhat correctly. (actually lift the print head.. the software seems backwards to me)

Have you used the 'Run complete bed calibration' button yet?
